STUDY GUIDE FOR SECOND PARTIAL LEVEL B2
ADJECTIVE CLAUSES: These clauses are used to add more information to a simple idea.
These are: THAT, WHO (RELATED TO THE PERSON YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT), WHICH , WHOSE (RELATED TO THE POSSESSION THAT THE PERSON HAS).
*** Examples:
Normal sentence: == Brandon is a student at COM.
Better idea:==== Brandon, WHO IS A SINGER, is a student at COM.
More ideas included:== Brandon, WHOSE BIRTHDAY PARTY IS TOMORROW, likes to sing at Degollado, WHICH is the best teathre of the city.
*** PRACTICE: CHANGE THE TEXT ADDING MORE INFORMATION TO MAKE IT BETTER.
Susan is a great dancer. She dances at "Las Cabales" a school to learn Spanish dances and ballet. She has different classes there, like body expression, acting, history of Spanish dance besides dancing clases.

GRAMMAR:
PASSIVE VOICE:To change from active to passive voice you must give more importance to what the subject is doing than to the subject. This means that the VERB or ACTION is the most important part of the sentence.
Example:
ACTIVE VOICE: Susan waters the plants every day (the subject "Susan" gets more importance than what shw's doing.)
ACTIVE VOICE: The plants are watered by Susan every day. (The new subject is "The plants" and what is happening to them, "are watered". Now it's more important what happens to the plants than who is doing the action).
We use PASSIVE VOICE to describe events from the present, past or future.
To write in passive voice, follow the formula:
ACTIVE: SUBJECT + VERB IN PRESENT, PAST OR FUTURE + PREDICATE COMPLEMENT.
PASSIVE: NEW SUBJECT + VERB TO BE IN PRESENT, PAST, FUTURE + VERB IN PAST PARTICIPLE + PREDICATE COMPLEMENT.
EXAMPLES:
THE STUDENTS WRITE THEIR JOURNALS EVERY WEEK. (In present)
Passive: The journals are written by the students every week.
JOHN RAN THE 52 KILOMETERS RACE YESTERDAY.(In past tense)
Passive: The 52 kilometers race was run by John yesterday.
SOFIA WILL PERFORM A GREAT SHOW AT THE TEATHRE TOMORROW. (In future)
Passive: A great show will be performed at the teathre by Sofia tomorrow.
